I've been looking to pick up something like this for some time to help up my walks and some of my home workouts. This weighted vest features a highly adjustable strap and weight distribution across the back and front of it.The vest is meant to hold a lot of weight so it's got a bulky fit but does have very comfortable over-the-shoulder pads around the neck area too.The vest would be best with a shirt that can take a little friction while you move or walk. The vest is made from very durable and quality materials (military grade) that should last as long as you keep it stored in a nice place away from the elements.Great value for the money!
Okay, so this weighted vest has a lot of positive things going for it, with a couple nagging negatives that prevent it from being 5 star.Pros:1. the 16 individual solid 2lb bars give awesome configurability and customization.2. the shoulder/chest padding are about perfect without adding too much bulk or making it too hot.3. the build quality is solid and very well thought out* for the main vest.4. very little movement or bounce when properly strapped in.Cons:1. if doing trail runs with balance weights front & back, the vest will soon begin to slide back and choke you. Only current solution I found was to 'unbalance' the vest so the front has more weight. That means you can't maximize your workout weight unfortunately.2. the straps*. While they are very strong & adjustable, they are also very ridged. If you secure yourself tight enough to prevent bouncing of the vest, you will also likely find it hard to take deep breaths. Just a smidgeon of flex to the straps would improve things, I think.3. Since this is a premium product, it would be nice if they had some small pocket/pouch on the front to carry keys, phone, etc.
I picked this weighted vest up to add another dimension to my workouts. My wife enjoys evening walks, and I wanted something that would let me turn those walks into a more demanding workout without carrying dumbbells or changing my routine.Right out of the box, I was impressed with the quality. The stitching is clean, the material feels durable, and the weight blocks are all consistent in size and finish. Each weight slides securely into its pocket and stays firmly in place.Once everything is loaded and the straps are adjusted, the vest fits snugly. That’s exactly what you want because it minimizes bouncing while walking or exercising. It feels secure without restricting your movement. In my excitement, I loaded the vest to its full weight and wore it through an entire leg workout. Let’s just say…I felt it. The extra resistance noticeably increased the intensity of the workout and made everyday movements between exercises more challenging. It adds another level of calorie burn without interfering with natural movement. My only criticism is the fit adjustment. The lower belt isn’t very intuitive, and the vest doesn’t include any guidance on how it should be adjusted for different body types. On my first longer walk I realized I needed to stop and readjust the fit. A simple instruction sheet or a few recommended fitting tips would go a long way toward helping users get the most comfortable and secure fit.Overall, I’m very pleased with this vest. It feels well made, performs exactly as I’d hoped, and has become a great addition to my home gym. If you happen to catch it during one of Amazon’s sales, it becomes an even better value.
For reference, I’m female, 5’6” and about 155lbs. This vest comes in one size. I’ve tried many different style weight vests. This style vest is placed over the head, which I tend not to like but wanted to give this one a try. There's a mid section strap that goes around your chest girth and is held in place via aluminum buckle and velcro along the surface. It comes with 16 cast iron weights that weigh just a little over 2 lbs each. It adjusts to a max of 35 lbs. There’s extra shoulder padding which is nice but looks very bulky. It doesn’t seem to be made for small framed people. Other features that I noticed is that the neck hole is relatively small which isn’t a big deal since it’s probably designed that way to make it more snug. Once it's on, I can’t add weight to the back side so you’ll need to pre-fill the vest, potentially making it more challenging for some people to put on. There are 16 pockets (8 in front, 8 in back) each that can hold 1-2.1 lb iron weight. Everything is secured via velcro. I only used half of the max weight to test this vest out. The shoulder padding helped relieve the pressure of the weight, however, the chest strap is quite rigid, so the edges did start to rub against my inner biceps after some time. Overall, this is a good vest if you need one that is sturdy, durable, and can hold a lot of weight, but might not be the most sleek, comfortable vest out there.
I’ve used several weighted vests over the years, and the Rough Country Fitness Reaper Nighthawk is easily one of the most comfortable and well-built options I’ve owned. The adjustable weight system makes it simple to increase resistance as your fitness level improves, and the balanced weight distribution keeps the vest secure without bouncing around during workouts.I’ve used it for rucking, running, bodyweight workouts, push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges, and endurance training, and it performs exceptionally well across all of them. The ergonomic fit allows for a full range of motion, which is something many weighted vests struggle with. Even during higher-intensity workouts, the vest stays snug and comfortable. The construction feels commercial-grade with durable stitching, quality materials, and a secure fit that inspires confidence. Whether you’re training for strength, conditioning, weight loss, athletic performance, CrossFit-style workouts, hiking, or improving cardiovascular endurance, this vest is an outstanding addition to your home gym setup. If you’re looking for a durable weighted vest for rucking, running, strength training, functional fitness, or progressive overload workouts, I highly recommend the Reaper Nighthawk. Excellent quality, great comfort, and worth every penny.
The build quality on this is the first thing you notice. The materials are thick and heavy duty, the stitching is clean throughout, and there are no rough edges or loose threads anywhere. Even empty it feels substantial. The shoulder and neck area is generously padded, which matters a lot once you start loading it up. The individual weight bars slide into their pockets snugly, and once they're seated there's zero shifting or rattling around while you move. The adjustability is the best feature. Being able to load or unload weight in small increments means you can go heavy one day and lighter the next, or gradually work your way up as you get stronger. Weight distributes evenly front to back so it feels balanced rather than pulling one direction. Once it's strapped down properly it stays put with almost no bounce, and I didn't have any chafing issues.Couple of gripes. The straps are stiff and the lower belt isn't intuitive at all, with no instructions included, so plan on spending time getting the fit dialed in. Cinching it tight enough to stop the bounce can also make deep breaths harder than they need to be. A little flex in the straps would fix that. The weights are also a tight fit going in initially. And for a vest at this price point, a small pocket for keys or a phone seems like an obvious omission. Still, it's a solid piece of equipment and worth it if you want something built to last.
A weighted vest can be a great way to increase the difficulty of bodyweight exercises without changing your workout routine, and this one does a good job of balancing comfort with durability. The fit is snug without feeling restrictive, allowing a full range of motion during a variety of exercises. One feature I appreciate is the adjustable weight system. Being able to add or remove the iron weights makes it easy to tailor the resistance for different workouts, whether it's walking, squats, pushups, pull ups, or conditioning circuits. The weight is distributed evenly across the front and back, so the vest feels balanced rather than shifting around during movement. The reinforced construction also gives it a solid, durable feel that seems well suited for regular training. The vest remains secure during more active exercises, and it doesn't bounce excessively when moving at a moderate pace. The materials feel sturdy, and the stitching appears well done throughout. My only minor observation is that, like most weighted vests, it takes a few workouts to dial in the best fit and determine the right amount of weight for different exercises. Starting lighter and increasing the load gradually makes the experience much more comfortable.Overall, this is a well designed training vest for anyone looking to add resistance to bodyweight workouts or endurance training. The adjustable weight system, balanced fit, and durable construction make it a practical addition to a home gym for users who want a versatile way to increase workout intensity.
This weighted vest is seriously badass! At 35 pounds, it is definitely heavy and adds a whole new level of intensity to workouts, walks, and training. The quality is great and the entire vest feels super strong, sturdy, and built to handle some serious use. I was really impressed with how durable and well made it feels, especially when you're dealing with this much weight. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy at all, and the reinforced construction makes me feel like it's going to hold up for a long time. If you're looking for a heavy duty weighted vest to challenge yourself and take your workouts up a notch, this one is awesome. Heavy, strong, great quality, and overall just a badass piece of workout equipment!
Holy crap is this thing well made!I love this weighted vest! It is awesome! It took me a few minutes to figure out the straps, I ended up watching a video and that did the trick! It's a bit hard to get the weights into the slots, they're a tight fit. But once they're in, they don't move, no jiggling, no movement whatsoever.I love that I can put in as many or as few weights as I want so I can have heavy days or light, recovery days.Well made, very solid. The whole shoulder/neck area is thickly padded. Very thick! Very cushioned! Still with 4 weights in, my shoulders were having trouble. I'm back down to just 2 weights for now to work my way up.Well made, even without weights in it, it feels like i'm wearing a Kevlar vest. This thing, once on, doesn't move. you move, it doesn't. Love this, no chafing anywhere.Made of thick materials and heavy duty velcro, there's no rough parts, no stray strings, absolutely a great design!
This weighted vest feels well made with durable materials and solid stitching throughout. The adjustable straps make it easy to achieve a secure fit, and the weight stays evenly distributed without shifting during movement. My son and I took it for a walk on the trial in the park yesterday. It’s comfortable enough for walking, bodyweight exercises, and strength training while adding an extra challenge to workouts. Overall, it’s a quality vest that performs exactly as expected.
